Inside Witchblade, NYPD homicide detective Sara Pezzini comes into possession of the Witchblade, a fictional, mysterious, supernatural artifact with awesome powers, & struggles to master its powers.

There use at times been several spin-off titles, which place the Witchblade around more days or even settings & in the mitts of more heroines, ranging from either the pirate woman to Joan of Arc.

Television series

Around 2000 the cable network TNT premiered a television series based on the comic book series. A series was directed by Ralph Hemecker and written by Marc Silvestri (who besides wrote a comedian book) and J.D. Zeik. Yancy Butler starred as Sara Pezzini. Although critically acclaimed & popular by owning audiences, it was canceled inside 2002 after Butler was ordered to enter rehab for alcoholism.
